From April 9 to 11, 2025, the European Parliament’s information hub in Brussels will host the photo exhibition “Imprisoned Freedom” dedicated to Ukrainian journalists illegally held in Russian captivity.
According to the Institute of Mass Information, at least 30 Ukrainian media professionals are currently in captivity. They were not combatants – their only weapon was the truth. The central figure of the exhibition will be Victoria Roshchyna, who was tortured to death by Russian forces.

Visitors to the exhibition will hear the stories of captured journalists and learn why it is important to talk about their fate.
The official opening will take place on April 9, at 17:00. Among the speakers of the event:
- Pina Picerno, Vice President of the European Parliament;
- Sebastian Buglio, MEP;
- Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Freedom of Speech;
- Oksana Dyakun, Deputy Representative of Ukraine to the EU;
- Julie Majerchak, Head of the Brussels office of Reporters Without Borders;
- Iryna Zemlyana, media expert at the Institute of Mass Information.
